NSSU worried about 2019 sport calendar
Uncertainty about the future because of the coronavirus pandemic is putting all sport activities on hold until further notice.

The Namibia School Sport Union is hoping that the Covid-19 pandemic will not affect the entire year's sport development programme.
NSSU vice-president Remigius Iyambo said the programme is crucial for talent identification.
Iyambo said with all sport activities on hold due to the outbreak, it is difficult for coaches to keep their athletes fit and ready for when matches resume.
"Schools are closed and many learners have gone home for the holiday. Trainers cannot make contact with them due to visiting and public gathering restrictions. We are just hoping that learners are training on their own," Iyambo said.
"School is expected to resume on 14 April and from 16 to 17 April we have the national Coca-Cola championships taking place in Windhoek. All the regions are done with their sub-national games. We are concerned whether our athletes will be ready by then," Iyambo said.
"Other competitions such as the Namibian Newspaper Cup are already cancelled."
Iyambo said the NSSU programme is crucial for the Southern African Schools Sports Association (Cosassa) Games taking place in Botswana in August.
"We are looking up to the education ministry to advise us on the way forward. Our country is reported to have four confirmed [Covid-19] cases, but there are other Southern African countries such as South Africa that have more cases. If the situation carries on like this, the entire programme for this year might change," Iyambo said.
